Brass Pipe-Thread Elbow (NPT)
This brass 90° pipe-thread elbow is a durable, corrosion-resistant fitting used for fuel systems, spray equipment, hydraulics, and general plumbing. Manufactured to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards, it provides a reliable, leak-resistant seal when installed with thread sealant or PTFE tape.
Important: How Pipe Thread Is Measured
NPT sizes do not match the actual diameter of the threads. This is the most common source of confusion.
The size name (1/4", 3/8", 1/2", etc.) refers to the inside diameter of the pipe, not the outside diameter of the fitting.
Quick reference chart:
- 1/4" NPT → approx. 0.54" outside thread diameter
- 3/8" NPT → approx. 0.675" outside thread diameter
- 1/2" NPT → approx. 0.84" outside thread diameter
If your fitting measures around 0.54" across the threads, it is 1/4" NPT even though the measurement does not match the name.
